Federico Redondo

Federico Redondo is a 20-year-old defensive midfielder, international U20 by Argentina, who plays for Argentinos Juniors, in Argentina. He is the son of Fernando Redondo, playing in the same position as his father. Last season was his best on a personal level, becoming the talk of the world. He is a player who is comfortable with the ball and likes to take charge of the game. He is intelligent, showing good positioning and good shortening, thus being solid defensively. He can make it to bigger stages if he can handle the pressure on his shoulders as Fernando Redondo's son.

Tall player with a good physical profile. He has a good relationship with the ball and makes good passes both short and long. Demonstrates the ability to take on the game, building it with quality, elegance and safety, due to his good vision of the game. Can identify empty spaces, as well as passing lines for teammates. Under pressure, he reveals security with the ball and a good first touch to go on the attack. Defensively, he is a concentrated player, who reveals a good aptitude in recovering the ball, either through tackles or intersections, to later put the ball in play and regain possession of his team. He is strong in aerial duels, has a good shortening of spaces and good marking. He is not a very fast player, but he makes up for it, being always well positioned and demonstrating a good reading of the game, anticipating his opponents very well. He is intelligent, demonstrates a high understanding of the game, is aggressive and communicative, showing good potential. He is not a positional "6", he likes to advance on the ground either to press or to transport the game. He feels comfortable looking for the game, as well as moving up the field to pass the line, always noticing when to approach or move away from the play. Many times, when under pressure, he resorts to a late pass to the centre-backs, only to then receive it alone from the back of the first line of pressure. Interesting player to see in another competitive context, namely in Europe.
